One the topic of Social Search

I have said it before that I feel Google is Social Search engine (the PageRank formula), but I was browsing through Dmoz the other day and it struck me. “Dmoz is a social search engine!” – But with a big brother twist, people submit their site and Dmoz editors review it and either give it a stamp of approval or not. What is that other than a form of social search (with a big brother twist)?
