I will be speaking at the Search Engine Strategies San Francisco 2010 (SES).This is one of the leading search & social marketing event world wide and the agenda is looking great. The conference is in its 12th year and is organized by a advisory board and the leading online marketing publications ClickZ and Search Engine Watch. The topics I am taking on are bot dear to me, the one on Tuesday, August 17th is called “Digital Asset Optimization” and talks about using what the Internet gives you to market your services and products. The other is more in line with fast developing interest in online PR and is on 18th of August. This one is called Search, PR and the Social Butterfly and looks really promising.
Reykjavik Internet Marketing conference is just around the corner with speakers from Ericsson, Bing/Microsoft, Anomaly, CCP games and Icelandair to mention few. In its 6th year the conference is going to be bigger than ever, attracting a wider audience on an international basis. The conference is accompanied by an Expo that lasts all weekend, Netið 2010 (roughly translates Internet 2010). Some 40 – 50 companies are expected to show their Internet related products and services.

The book has been written by two authors; Gudmundur Arnar and yours truly Kristjan Mar Hauksson. Gudmundsson is an Economist from Acadia University in Canada, he graduated with an MBA from the University of Iceland. He has written numerous articles about business and marketing in magazines and papers in Iceland and is now the manager at Imarks, the union for marketers in Iceland. Now, Gudmundsson works in the marketing division of Icelandair.

Reykjavik Internet Marketing Conference 2009 is on and is looking good, Rand Fishkin has started and is speaking about the challanges facing Internet Marketers. I never thought I would say it but come on Virgin Atlantic its 2008! This is one of the worst search engine optimising howlers I have seen on a company that has it all, It’s hip, cool and dynamic. The 404 shows a 200 in the header, with some 40 – 50 destinations only 195 pages are indexed at Google and some of them are’nt there, like this URL www.virginatlantic.com/lovinlondon/. The usage of Meta data and the title are little to none, “meta name=”description” content=”" . It’s not that I do not like Virgin, it’s just that I am so surpriced to see a modern company in a very competitive environment not using the Internet to it’s fullest.
And to add to this I can’t see that they are using any web analytics, what???
